Overview
The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full-time, on-site RN-Nurse Navigator to join our team in Manhattan, KS offices. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with no major holidays, no on-call and no weekends.

What does this position entail?
Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age-specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. This role requires collaboration amongst coworkers and other departments, as well as providers.
Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding status and medical history. Collects and records nursing assessment and interventions.
- Review and report the results of the health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider and take appropriate action based on standard or verbal orders.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Assure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central lines catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Maintain work environment.
- Restock the supply area as needed.
- Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood-borne pathogen.
- Maintain all disinfection protocols. Maintain equipment according to quality control standards.
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
