Job Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, supporting safe and efficient procedures through clinical expertise, preparation, and coordination with the surgical team.
Responsibilities
• Provide scrub and circulating nursing care during surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and supplies in accordance with surgical standards.
• Perform pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient assessments.
• Administer medications and monitor patients during procedures, including conscious sedation.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate patient status to the surgical team.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to ensure patient safety.
Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room scrub and circulating experience – Required
• Strong CVOR and open-heart surgical experience – Required
• IV insertion and phlebotomy experience – Required
• Conscious sedation experience – Required
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required
Certifications
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required
License
• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License – Required
• Primary Source Verification through NYSED – Required
