Safety Coordinator – RN – Full Time – Days – NYP/CNYPAI

We’re seeking a dedicated Patient Safety Coordinator (RN) to lead initiatives that enhance patient safety, drive performance improvement, and foster a culture of excellence. This is a patient‑facing clinical role – not an administration position. This role is focused on quality, safety, and continuous learning, where you’ll work directly with patients and clinical teams to ensure the highest standards of safety and care are upheld in every interaction.

This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a hands‑on, patient‑centered environment and is passionate about driving safety and quality in the clinical space. This role also maintains an indirect but collaborative relationship with the NYP Quality & Patient Safety (QPS) team, aligning department initiatives with broader institutional goals and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support department‑level programs focused on patient safety and performance improvement. Conduct data abstraction and analysis to identify trends and opportunities. Recommend and implement educational initiatives, policy changes, and system improvements. Coach clinical teams on safety goals and best practices. Assist with writing abstracts and preparing presentations for clinical staff.

Schedule:

Hours are 7:00am-3:00pm, 8:30am-4:30pm, and 10:00am-6:00pm.

Location:

710 W 168th Street, New York, NY 10032.

Preferred Criteria

Masters in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree. Either bachelor’s or graduate degree must be in Nursing. Experience investigating serious and near‑miss safety events, conducting RCAs, and developing interventions to improve systems/processes as indicated. Skilled in supporting clinical staff with performance improvement publications and presentations. Proficient in delivering clinical education related to quality and safety.

Required Criteria

Current New York State Registered Nurse License. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Clinical experience in related specialty with progressive responsibility and accountability. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in quality and patient safety methodologies and performance improvement management. Proficient in presenting clinical updates/materials to clinical staff related to quality and patient safety. Demonstrated ability to review literature and other validated sources/evidence of professional standards of care to make sure hospital policies/procedures are current.

Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork amongst diverse groups; to lead and or serve as team member/departmental representative. Ability to adapt, flexible with assignment changes due to departmental needs and organizational quality and patient safety priorities.
