The role of the Oncology Nurse Navigator is to guide the cancer patient and their family through the complex healthcare system. this assistance and support improves patient preparedness for cancer diagnostic and treatment processes by providing education and psychosocial support. the Oncology Nurse Navigator facilitates interaction between patients, physicians, diagnostic departments, and appropriate community agencies.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement :

BSN required. Masters in Oncology Nursing is preferred.

Minimum Experience Requirement :5 years of nursing experience. 3-5 years surgical or oncology experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to coordinate care across many departments. Ability to work effectively within a interdisciplinary care team. Must be able to work with patients and families who are under stress. Must be comfortable with public speaking to small and large groups.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate.

Minimum License Requirement :

Current NYS nursing license required.
