Overview
Position:
Supervisor of Nurses - Nursing Administration (NYC Health + Hospitals/ Metropolitan).
This role involves directing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing regimen within an assigned unit, including diagnosis and treatment of health problems through nursing methods and coordination with the health care team. Under general supervision, the supervisor schedules, directs, and instructs nursing personnel and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients within the unit.
- Schedule, assign, guide, and direct nursing personnel and provide nursing care coaching and guidance to allied staff.
- Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes to ensure continuity of care.
- Interpret and report patient responses to appropriate members of the health care team.
- Participate with interdisciplinary health team members to plan comprehensive patient care programs.
- Determine which components of the nursing regimen may be carried out by allied nursing personnel and supervise their execution.
- Provide teaching and direction to nursing personnel; maintain standards of nursing practice and participate in policy development.
- Participate in department and interdisciplinary conferences; contribute to evaluation and modernization of nursing care practices.
- Coordinate and lead development and maintenance of nursing care plans, ensuring continuity of care and evaluating trends for improvement.
- Plan and coordinate continuing education and staff development activities for nursing personnel.
- Perform other professional nursing activities as delegated by nursing service administration.
- A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
