We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe.
Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
Provides a total of 48 units of scattered site housing to chronically homeless individuals with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI). The apartments are located throughout New York City. Case management staff focusses on removing barriers to maintain housing by ensuring that all clients’ basic needs are met and that clients are connected to needed services, such as mental health and substance abuse.
The operations component focus on the housing units meeting habitability standards by working with landlords and management companies to address major repair issues and complete minor repairs, as well as identifying new units, negotiating leases, and making units ready when there is a vacancy. Clients contribute 30% of their income towards their rent.
