Location: New York

An Intern and Volunteer Coordinator helps organize all aspects of volunteering and interning, from recruiting new volunteers and interns, to managing intern and volunteer projects, to keeping track of intern/volunteer schedules. This person is responsible for creating and maintaining an organized volunteer and internship schedule. We’re looking for an individual who is dedicated to their work and to creating an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves intern/volunteer applications
  • Helps interns/volunteers refine internship/volunteer opportunity goals
  • Keeps track of intern/volunteer hours and responsibilities
  • Meets with interns on a recurring basis to check progress
Qualifications, Credentials, and Technical Skills Required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and team-building skills
  • 1-3 years of volunteer experience

Volunteer opportunities are available in the fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters. Because this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, Witness to Mass Incarceration is happy to provide recommendations or references for all volunteers. In terms of volunteer credit, some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of a volunteer opportunity. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.
