Friends for Kathy Hochul is seeking a full-time African American Constituency Manager for the campaign of New York State’s first female Governor, Kathy Hochul. The role oversees the execution of the campaign’s African American outreach and organizing program in the Downstate Region (New York City, Long Island, and Hudson Valley).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with elected partners, community leaders and advocates across the region
  • Support Coalitions Director in developing and managing the campaign’s African American Advisory Council
  • Serve as event planning and logistics lead for Coalitions events within the African American community
  • Support briefing needs, including review, coordination, and dissemination of materials for coalitions events & political call time
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience managing political relationships, coalitions or in constituency organizing
  • Strong ties to African American community leaders and elected officials in New York City
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Well-organized, with strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
