The mission of Housing Plus is to provide permanent, affordable housing and comprehensive services to women, including women with children, and gender expansive people to support them in overcoming poverty, homelessness, addiction, trauma and the effects of incarceration, in order to build lives of stability, and to define and realize goals for themselves and their families. Since its beginning in 2002, Housing Plus has worked to address the lack of housing and services for women who have historically been underserved and marginalized, especially women impacted by the criminal justice system, and for the past 10 years, also female Veterans.
Over the next three years, Housing Plus’ programs will continue to grow, along with its commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Position SummaryIn this exciting role, the Residential Aide provides trauma-informed care and supervision to residents, addressing their high level of need and ensuring consistent emotional and behavioral support. You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our participants by providing them with the support and assistance they need. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our participants, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and assisting with daily living activities.
Duties/Responsibilities- Direct care experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic level computer skills such as knowledge in word.
- Housing Plus email usage.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Other tasks assigned.
- Ability to work in Brooklyn.
- Ability to work 12am - 8am, 8am - 4pm or 4pm - 12pm / Weekdays and occasionally on weekends.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Security experience or Residential Aide experience working in a shelter.
- Experience working in transitional housing or supportive housing.
- Must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs regularly.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
