Job SummaryThe Development Communications Lead is a key member of the All Stars Project (ASP) Development team that raises $12 million annually for the organization.
This position provides donor-centered operational and fundraising support for three critical areas of our fundraising:
Annual Giving;
Development Communications; and ASP’s 10-year Becoming All Stars expansion campaign. The national Annual Giving campaign is our broadest campaign that reaches thousands of individual supporters each year. The Becoming All Stars campaign—launched in 2018 and entered its public phase just recently—is on a mission to raise $150 million and reach 100,000 young people by 2027. As of December 2025, we have already raised $116.6 million and connected more than 63,000 young people to the transformative power of development-through-performance.
The Development Communications Lead is a strong communicator, passionate about the power of philanthropy to change the world, and about elevating ASP’s development team into its next phase of growth. They wear multiple hats across numerous fundraising functions and work closely with development colleagues in all five All Stars regions, playing an integral and key role in elevating our expansion campaign.
The position is a hybrid role and requires some in-person attendance in the ASP New York regional office. The Development Communications Lead reports to the Director of Annual Giving and Fundraising Operations (DAGFO).
Key Responsibilities Fundraising Communications- Draft communications for the Becoming All Stars campaign, designed for ASP donors and partners, such as hard copy and digital reports, newsletters, proposals, pitch decks, email announcements and solicitations, one-pagers, brochures, presentations, and webpage content.
- Lead the compilation of program outcomes, fundraising outcomes, and relevant areas of focus to use in donor-centered communications.
- Using cloud-based storage, identify and manage image inventory to be used in donor communications.
- Solicit and track quotes/endorsements from youth participants and supporters through interviews and staff input.
- Provide support in developing pre- and post-meeting reports and ghost writing for key donors, as identified by DAGFO.
- Serve as a key member of the Fundraising Operations team in all communications matters as they relate to fundraising tools or internal processes (drafting how-to guides, acknowledgement letters, and automated communications).
- In partnership with the DAGFO as well as regional development leadership, lead and manage the execution, design, implementation, and assessment of ASP’s national annual giving campaigns (direct mail, email, social media, and phone scripts.)
- Actively research innovative annual giving practices/tools in the nonprofit space for consideration for current and/or future annual giving campaigns.
- Train the fundraising team in executing annual campaign elements.
- Ensure donor communications are accurately and promptly entered into the donor database (currently Raiser’s Edge NXT).
- Maintain and/or develop archive and inventory of all campaign and communications activity in SharePoint.
- Support expense management, ensuring vendor invoices are processed in a timely manner.
- Support cultivation experiences for supporters to connect to ASP’s youth development programs and young people.
