Summary Of ResponsibilitiesThe Lead Child Care Specialist is a role within NMIC’s Benefits Unit that will work with our highly skilled and experienced interdisciplinary team to help build NMIC’s Child Care Assistance Program by conducting direct outreach to eligible clients, recruiting child care providers and helping to develop and manage community partnerships to increase community access to the program in Manhattan and the Bronx.
EssentialFunctions And Responsibilities
- Follow up with direct outreach to residents of Manhattan and the Bronx who are eligible for program participation.
- Coordinate communication between interested community residents and program staff.
- Recruit child care providers in Manhattan and the Bronx to participate in the program and accept vouchers for eligible children.
- Facilitate communication between childcare providers, clients, and program staff.
- Assist the program manager and other leadership staff to develop outreach strategies and materials.
- Support program staff with case management, including assisting with any issues related to enrollment and client follow‑up.
- Assist program manager with reporting and/or contract compliance where necessary.
- Support program manager and other NMIC staff to ensure ongoing issuance of subsidies and verification of subsidy payments.
- Attend department and agency‑wide meetings as scheduled.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Bilingual in English/Spanish (both written and verbal) is required.
- Ability to enter and review information in online systems and databases.
- Knowledge of working with diverse and underserved communities preferred.
- Demonstrated computer/technology literacy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain consistently positive interactions with all members of the public.
- Excellent office management and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and to interact with management and program staff.
Benefits: NMIC offers a generous benefits package including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; paid time off consisting of 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, 11 agency holidays, plus the week off from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day; a 401k with agency contribution; and other benefits. The salary for the position is $69,550.
