Position Summary

We help children, youth, and families in low-income communities thrive. We work in South Bronx neighborhoods where we can address the greatest barriers to lasting success through education and career programs, and access to community resources. We’re dedicated to our neighborhoods for the long term, supporting individuals and families as they establish self-sufficiency. Our services create opportunities for people to thrive in every aspect of their lives.

Salary

Salary range for this role will be $45,000 to $50,000 based on education, training and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and manage the annual outreach and recruitment strategy for all programs across the Workforce department that advances agency priorities and promotes the brand of the Phipps Neighborhoods sectoral based programs.
  • Supervise the outreach team; delegate assignments, offer guidance and support.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships that support enrollment goals and foster relationships for external referrals.
  • Plan and implement community events hosted by Phipps Neighborhoods and conduct outreach at the street fairs, health fairs, youth fairs, public school open houses and other public events.
  • Help ensure that Phipps Neighborhoods programs utilize best practices when conducting outreach activities and information sessions, including serving as a resource and sounding board for community members, providing guidance and feedback, and developing an integrated outreach strategy.
  • Maintain a calendar of outreach dates/times/locations, and ensure that employees conducting outreach have appropriate materials for distribution to the public.
  • Manage the outreach database, track and analyze the effectiveness of outreach.
  • Maintain inventory of outreach supplies and equipment; distribute supplies and equipment, assist with ordering supplies and equipment for outreach.
  • Work cross functionally, particularly with Case Management, Employer Engagement and Facilitator units.
  • Perform any and all tasks deemed necessary by supervisor.
Qualifications

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED with at least three years of demonstrated experience working with youth and young adults in workforce, community and school-based settings. Bachelor’s Degree or College credits strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal, public speaking and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including program participants, staff, funders and program partners. Strong critical thinking, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills are required.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Self-directed and able to take initiative. Ability to handle matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.
