The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is an award-winning nonprofit journalism organization that champions the power of stories to make complex issues relevant and inspire action. Founded in 2006, the Center sponsors independent reporting on global issues that mainstream media often overlook, serving as an essential source of support for enterprise reporting in the United States and across the globe. We have a bold vision to be the venue for the world's most innovative and consequential reporting, with journalism as the key element for mobilizing society through audience engagement strategies.

We believe that people and communities who actively engage with systemic challenges will find solutions together. The thousands of journalists and educators who are part of our networks span more than 80 countries. By supporting journalists as they conduct in-depth investigations, produce compelling stories, and engage diverse audiences, we create a ripple effect of world-changing impact.

Our work reaches tens of millions of people each year through our news-media partners and an audience-centered strategy of global and regional engagement. Our education and outreach programs bring this journalism into classrooms, universities, and communities worldwide, using storytelling as a tool for understanding complex challenges and inspiring action. Through partnerships with community organizations, cultural institutions, libraries, and civic groups nationwide, we facilitate dialogue around breakthrough journalism on critical issues—climate change, democracy, global health, human rights, and more—deepening understanding and inspiring civic engagement.

About the role

The Pulitzer Center seeks a dynamic program leader to execute public programming that amplifies the impact of our journalists' work and strengthens connections with communities across the United States. As Program Manager - Outreach, you'll design and lead diverse community-facing initiatives—from expert convenings to film festivals to grassroots partnerships—that bring critical global issues into local conversations and expand our reach into underrepresented regions and communities.

This role combines strategic partnership development with hands-on program execution. You'll cultivate relationships with community organizations, cultural institutions, and media outlets while overseeing the operational details that make programming successful. You'll also lead monitoring and evaluation efforts to ensure our outreach work drives meaningful impact, and you'll mentor an Outreach Coordinator, building team capacity as we scale our community engagement.

If you're energized by connecting journalism to public discourse, building authentic community partnerships, and creating programming that meets people where they are, this role offers significant autonomy to innovate while contributing to an organization known for supporting some of the world's most important reporting.
