RESPONSIBILITIES
Raise new and increased funds from donors and prospects
. This position will inherit a small portfolio of prospects and donors, and will largely be responsible for developing new donors and foundation relationships. This position will not be bound by geography or gift level, though there will be an emphasis to focus on larger gifts ($10K+).
It is expected that these responsibilities will be carried out by:
- Developing and stewarding relationships with current and prospective donors.
Responsible for stewarding and growing approximately 20 current donors and prospects. Bring in 30 prospects within the first year with 75% making a first-time gift. - Passion for the work of the Jewish Agency for Israel and understanding of our programs. Being a knowledgeable, articulate and inspirational spokesperson for The Jewish Agency with donors, prospects, and foundations; making presentations; representing the Case for Giving; and accompanying individuals and groups on site visits, when needed.
- Maintaining regular contact with donors and prospects, traveling to markets with high donor density and/or federation relationships, and interfacing electronically otherwise.
- Providing relevant information, speakers (including Agency lay and professional leadership), and materials; creating opportunities for education about and engagement with The Jewish Agency in assigned communities; and proactively assisting donors, and prospects.
- Developing a prospect pipeline through networking, researching target communities (communities with dense Jewish population, high affluence, strong federations), and utilizing research tools.
- Creating and maintaining Individual Donor Plans (IDPs) including time-bound goals, strategies, ratings and moves, which are reviewed and approved by the supervisor.
- Preparing for bi-monthly reviews of progress on IDPs with supervision.
- Participating in staff development opportunities, trainings and retreats.
- Utilize internal systems and coordinate with appropriate internal staff to obtain and provide proposals, grant reporting, and other information required for the solicitation and stewardship of gifts.
- SDOs will work closely with Regional Netzigim of the North American delegation, senior shlichim and Partnership directors, where appropriate to mine for potential prospects and support current donors.
- Travel annually at least once overseas and throughout the year domestically to cultivate relationships.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in financial resource development, including a strong prior track record in cultivating and securing major gifts.
- Familiarity with Jewish community structures and institutions, and knowledge of Israel.
- Ability and inclination to work collaboratively as part of a geographically-dispersed team.
- Skills and discipline to use donor and contact management systems and other technologies necessary in an international fundraising structure.
Use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, and Excel required, and experience in Raisers Edge, Salesforce, or similar products preferred. - Strong presentation skills, with the ability to inspire individuals and audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication, and flexibility to work in an ever changing work environment.
