Connect and Support Older Adults in Your Community
DOROT's Response Team for Older Adults provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to socialize with older adults in New York City while engaging in social activities. Social Activities Volunteers and their matches can meet for a one-time session or multiple visits (up to 3 months), depending on activity requests and availability.
Activities include:
- Grocery Shopping
- Walking together in the older adult's neighborhood
- Organizing paperwork or mail
- Playing cards or board games
- Accompanying the older adult to a visit to a museum, concert, or other outing
The Response Team has lots of flexibility for volunteers. We are especially looking for volunteers who are based or willing to travel to the East side, West 50s, and West 100s-125th as it can sometimes be difficult to find volunteers for these areas.
DOROT is a social services organization dedicated to addressing social isolation and promoting social connections for older adults. DOROT is headquartered in Manhattan. We welcome volunteers ages 18+ and especially those 50+ to volunteer in a wide-ranging set of roles.
