Senior Associate, Group Insurance Communications

This position is hybrid with Tuesday - Thursday in the New York or Philadelphia office, and Monday and Friday as virtual days.
New York Life Corporate Communications is seeking a dynamic communications professional to join the team as a Senior Associate to support Group Insurance Communications.
Role OverviewThe role will primarily support internal and change communications strategies for several Group Insurance businesses at New York Life, including Group Benefit Solutions (GBS);
Group Membership Association Division (GMAD); and Institutional Life (IL). This role may occasionally support external communications initiatives as well. The majority of the role’s efforts will be in support of GBS, one of New York Life’s fastest-growing businesses.
The candidate must be able to execute on a combination of tactical internal, change, and sometimes external communications efforts in support of team initiatives including organizational changes, innovation campaigns, operational updates, promotional stories, and business development.
Key to success will be the ability to quickly cultivate important relationships with corporate communications teammates, and internal business partners, including strategy, solutions, marketing, distribution, claims, underwriting, service and HR.
The right person for this promising opportunity must be focused, yet adaptable and agile enough to succeed in a fast‑paced environment as part of a tight‑knit team that supports a fast‑growing business. This role reports to the communications lead for New York Life’s Group Insurance businesses.
What You’ll Do- Supporting communications planning and execution for both GBS and GMAD; providing some communications support for IL.
- Crafting compelling, consistent narratives that articulate the value proposition and competitive differentiation of Group Insurance businesses to internal, and sometimes external, audiences.
- Developing leadership communications including executive messaging, town halls, employee meetings, intranet content, and video communications that build understanding and alignment around business priorities.
- Partnering with HR and business leaders to communicate organizational changes, policy updates, and strategic initiatives that impact Group Insurance teams and stakeholders.
- Developing and executing change communications strategies that help employees navigate transitions, embrace evolving business priorities, and understand new processes.
- Occasionally supporting external communications initiatives including media relations and leadership social media to elevate the profile of GBS, GMAD and its leadership teams; partnering with colleagues in Marketing to align on broader messaging and strategic approach.
- Supporting crisis communications and issues management as needed, working closely with Corporate Communications colleagues.
- Establishing and tracking key performance indicators for communications initiatives, including intranet engagement metrics, employee survey results, and media coverage analysis; leveraging data and feedback to continuously refine communications approaches and demonstrate business impact.
- Leveraging – and staying current with – communications best practices and emerging technologies, including generative AI tools, to enhance team capabilities and content quality.
- Professional with minimum of 5 years’ communications experience, especially internal and change communications experience, and at least 2-3 years of strong experience in the insurance or financial services space.
