Marathon Strategies, an independent communications, public affairs, and research firm, is seeking a driven, organized, and intellectually curious Communications Fellow to join our team.
Our nine(9)-month, full-time fellowship is an immersive program designed to accelerate the careers of emerging communications professionals. Fellows gain direct experience working on high-profile campaigns, public affairs initiatives, and strategic communications programs across a diverse portfolio of corporate and public affairs clients.
Born from the front lines of some of the most competitive political campaigns of the past two decades, Marathon applies campaign-style strategy, speed, and discipline to complex challenges facing companies, causes, and candidates. We embed ourselves within our clients’ organizations, challenge conventional thinking, and craft smart, aggressive communications strategies that shape opinion and deliver measurable results.

Responsibilities include:
- Compiling press clippings daily for various clients
- Pitching and placing stories in local, regional, and national publications
- Managing editorial calendars and media lists
- Developing op-eds, press releases, and other written materials
- Generating content for social media campaigns
- Inputting into client workplans
- Implementing strategic communication initiatives and programs
- Assisting in account administrative duties such as taking notes on client calls and updating activity reports
Qualifications:
- At least two relevant internships or professional experiences (full-time or part-time) in communications, public affairs, consulting, political campaigns, in-house communications, or journalism
- Recently acquired bachelor’s degree in related field
- Experience pitching media and building media lists
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Flexible and proactive in taking on assignments and responsibilities
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
