Public Relations and Social Media Associate

Bessemer Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Public Relations and Social Media Associate to join a group of talented corporate strategy & communications professionals to learn and grow within a dynamic and collaborative team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in high‑profile public relations and social media efforts at a leading family office. This role will report to the Public Relations Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Support PR Initiatives:
    Assist in coordinating media interviews, distributing press coverage, editing byline articles, and managing PR metrics and agency communications.
  • Social Media Management:
    Draft, schedule, and publish engaging content across corporate social platforms; maintain the content calendar; ensure timely approvals and alignment with brand voice.
  • Monitoring & Listening:
    Track media coverage, brand mentions, and flag relevant industry and competitor activity across traditional and social media channels.
  • Research & Trend Analysis:
    Conduct competitive research, monitor PR and social media trends, and identify opportunities for visibility through media, conferences, or content.
  • Analytics & Reporting:
    Support tracking and reporting of key PR and social media metrics; analyze performance to inform strategy and improvements.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
    Liaise with cross‑functional teams (marketing, legal, HR, creative) to ensure content is accurate, timely, and aligned with firm objectives.
  • Crisis & Issues Support:
    Help maintain crisis communication playbooks, monitor real‑time issues, and support response planning and execution.
  • Administrative & Project Support:
    Provide general support to coordinate PR/social initiatives, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day execution.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, English, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience:

    1–3 years of experience in public relations, marketing, or content creation; internship experience considered. Prior work in financial or professional services is a plus.
  • Writing & Communication:
    Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Work Ethic & Initiative:
    Self‑starter, high level of accountability, and a proactive approach to learning and taking ownership.
  • Team & Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Excellent interpersonal skills with a client‑focused mindset; collaborative and comfortable working cross‑functionally.
  • Judgment & Discretion:
    Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Attention to Detail:
    Highly detail‑oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in fast‑paced environments.
  • Problem Solving:
    Creative thinker and problem‑solver; adaptable and resourceful under shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Analytics & Tools:
    Proficient in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite); familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Linked In Analytics) and basic reporting.

The base salary range for this position is $80K - $90K. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skills, experience, and qualification for the role. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.

In addition, this position may be eligible for a discretionary incentive‑based bonus based on individual and company performance.

Eligible employees may participate in a 401(k) program with a company profit‑sharing contribution, medical, dental, vision, life insurance and disability covering and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
