We serve up news via print, digital, and events to a community of architects, engineers, designers, academics, developers, contractors, and others interested in the built environment. AN Media draws thousands of professionals to our Facades+ conferences and other events held across the country. Our award-winning, New York City–based media company is celebrating 20 years of publishing The Architect’s Newspaper.

In addition to that title, AN Media Group also publishes AN Interior, a magazine of interiors realized by architects.

The Role

AN Media Group is presently seeking applications for Senior Program Associate. The Senior Program Associate works closely with the VP of Event Marketing and Programming to procure keynotes, speakers, and topics for AN’s various conferences and events throughout the year. This position requires extensive research and understanding of the AEC industry in North America. It also includes writing feature articles for our Facades+ website and newsletter.

This is a full-time staff role based in AN’s New York City office.

Responsibilities
  • Writing
    • Research and produce the weekly Facades+ newsletter and provide editorial support in our facades coverage
  • Program Development
    • Assist the VP of Event Management and Programming with organizing 14+ North American conferences per year.
    • Researching and recruiting appropriate speakers for events.
    • Developing themes, panels, and framing text for conferences.
    • Managing event planning documents including agenda, speaker topics, and website content.
    • Assist speakers/panelists with their presentations.
    • Coordinate with speakers to receive and handle presentation files before and during the event.
  • Event Promotion and Marketing
    • Working with the designers on conference website/marketing aspects including copy for blasts and making sure the website is up-to-date.
    • Retrieve assets from speakers (headshots, bios, project images, marketing contacts).
    • Facilitate communication with speakers’ firm’s marketing department and AN marketing team.
    • Working with Events Marketing Assistant to prepare press releases, marketing copy for blasts, and social media.
    • Speaker relations and follow up on any speaker stipends, etc.
    • Travel to events; coordinate speakers the day of the event; stage manage the event with knowledge of how to use a projector, laptop, and power point; and coordinate timekeeping.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and manage the process from end-to-end.
  • A working knowledge of the architecture and design industry, and a willingness to become an expert.
  • Capable of juggling multiple projects and staying ahead of deadlines.
  • Able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
  • Experience in marketing and events is a plus (preferably in architecture/design or a related industry).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Architecture, or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience, preferably in the AEC or professional services industry.
