Position Summary

This is a full-time hybrid position located at NYP's Midtown Manhattan Corporate Offices. The Writer, Development Communications is a communications professional who researches, writes, and edits proposals and reports for NYP donors, specializing in communications for corporate and foundation donors. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications and Donor Engagement, you will be an integral member of the Development Communications team and a major partner of the Corporate and Foundations Relations team.

You will work closely with fundraisers, clinicians, and leadership to gather, synthesize, organize, and cohesively present complex information in an understandable way to a lay audience.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for researching, writing, and editing donor-facing communications collateral, primarily reports and proposals.
  • Translates technical medical and scientific concepts into compelling materials appropriate for a lay audience.
  • May also draft brochures, speaking points, newsletter articles, programs, and other promotional pieces to support fundraising at NYP.
  • Adheres to relevant internal policies and procedures to ensure efficient and accurate production of communications.
  • Responsive to last-minute changes and quick turnarounds.
  • Collaborates in a professional manner.
  • May work with outside vendors as necessary.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
Preferred criteria
  • Comfortable with technical material like medical or scientific content.
  • Graphic design skills a plus.
Required criteria
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of communications experience with proven success in a non-profit setting preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Driven to meet and exceed goals, with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Adobe Acrobat, and Salesforce CRM.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate within a fast-paced highly complex organization, emphasizing teamwork, respect, and excellence.
  • Collaborative attitude with strong people skills.

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse travel expenses.

Salary Range:
$74,000-$111,000/Annual
