, this paid and highly competitive opportunity offers aspiring communications professionals the chance to learn from and work alongside the team at Small Girls PR as full contributing team members – no coffee runs!
The goal of the SGPR Summer Fellowship is to prepare recent graduates with the foundational skills necessary for most entry‑level jobs in PR, communications, and beyond. To qualify, candidates must be able to work out of our NY or LA office two times per week on a predetermined schedule that optimizes in‑office collaboration with a fellow’s respective team. This requirement remains a condition of all Fellows and is also a prerequisite for potential full‑time employment as an Account Coordinator after the Fellowship completes.
While the Fellowship offers the possibility of a permanent role, it is not guaranteed; transition depends on performance and the company’s hiring needs.
- Join one of our teams covering retail & beauty, consumer technology, social impact, wellness, influencer marketing, and more.
- Attend training sessions on media list building, reporter relationships, pitch crafting, influencer marketing, and public speaking.
- Build and develop media relationships through personalized pitching to reporters, editors, and influencers; grow your network.
- Source and curate relevant media and influencer lists for future events and storytelling opportunities.
- Organize digital assets, attend weekly calls, take notes, and perform ad‑hoc tasks as needed.
- Track team success by monitoring search engines, alerts, and social media to capture client placements and mentions.
- Participate in regular virtual brainstorms to craft shareworthy moments that attract editor attention.
- Draft and write media materials for brands.
- Detail‑oriented – spot typos, double‑check formatting, meet every deadline.
- Self‑starter – own projects and assignments with confidence and autonomy.
- Creative – bring new and experimental ideas to the table.
- Efficient – deliver high‑quality work quickly.
- High standards – expect the best for yourself and the team.
SGPR will provide:
- A stipend of $9,600 paid biweekly.
- An additional $100 stipend for a work‑from‑home setup (plus a company‑provided laptop) for the three days working outside the office.
- Reimbursement for round‑trip Metrocard travel on in‑office days.
- Two PTO days and two sick days to use throughout the 12 weeks, plus company‑observed holidays.
- Access to professional development programs for fellows, covering pitching, influencer marketing, experiential marketing, and more.
