Machinist B - CNC Lathe job born, NY.
Machinist focused on programming, setting up, and operating CNC Lathe machines. Further they produce production parts to required tolerances and due dates.
Programming, machine set up, and machine operation- Writes programs on the machine and edit offline.
- Designs and builds basic fixtures related to various machining operations.
- Read blueprints, job travelers, work instructions, program and tooling sheets, quality documents and GD&T;
Ensures processes and operations are correct. - Sets up production machines following prints and specifications.
- Chooses, aligns, and securely attaches holding fixtures, jaws, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and other materials on machines according to work instructions.
- Applies knowledge of mathematics and instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
- Identifies malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts controls of machine to correct errors.
- Inspects and measures completed production units to identify defects caused by machine set up.
- Is responsible for taking care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in neat condition.
- Proper and safe use of material handling equipment such as cranes, carts, etc.
- Follows all company safety rules, including machine operation and guarding.
- Maintains simple reports on work orders handled, quantities produced and quality reports.
- Ability to follow work order instructions, blueprint reading and geometric tolerances.
- Performs miscellaneous duties and participates in training as assigned by a supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing/Technical Programming; OR completion of a full apprenticeship program; OR successful completion of suitable company training required.
- At least three (3) years of experience as a fully qualified machinist required.
