Welder

Location: Waterford

MSP designs and constructs detention-grade correctional facilities and specialty modular units in a controlled manufacturing environment. Due to the specialized nature of our projects, we are seeking a welder with strong MIG welding experience and the ability to perform across multiple welding processes as needed.

This position is ideal for welders who are adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable shifting welding techniques based on project scope, material, and fabrication requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding (horizontal and downhill) as a primary function, while remaining capable of supporting additional welding processes as required.
• Review construction plans and understand scope, materials, and weld specifications.
• Secure components using knowledge of geometry, metal properties, weld shrinkage, and proper fabrication techniques.
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld components to maintain proper alignment.
• Prepare materials through cutting, grinding, and fitting prior to welding.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment based on material thickness and project needs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, and fabrication drawings.
• Follow OSHA and company safety standards at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support department workflow and production demands.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of welding experience preferred.
• Experience with additional welding processes beyond MIG is highly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong fabrication fundamentals and machining knowledge.
• Willingness to cross-train and adapt to varying project requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Motivated, dependable, and team-oriented.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and move materials up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights above five feet when required.
• Must be alert, coordinated, and physically capable of performing welding duties safely.

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting $25.00+ per hour (DOE)

Work Environment:

• Machine shop environment which may require the use of industrial hearing protection and/or other personal protective equipment.
