Situated on the west bank of the Hudson River in West Haverstraw, NY, the Bowline Point Generating Station comprises two dual-fuel natural gas and oil-fired boilers, along with two GE steam turbine units, providing a combined capacity of 1169 megawatts. The plant has been a significant source of electricity for the region and has undergone upgrades to meet environmental regulations, ensuring its continued role in maintaining grid stability.
Opportunity Summary
The Material Handler at the Bowline Point Generating Station plays a key role in supporting safe and reliable plant operations by managing the receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of all materials and tools. This position also coordinates with vendors, resolves shipment discrepancies, and maintains accurate inventory and administrative records. The role contributes to overall plant success by combining strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Your scope of responsibility as Material Handler includes the following primary functions:
- Ensure the efficient and accurate management of all plant materials and tools, supporting reliable plant operations through proper handling, storage, issuance, and documentation.
- Receive, unpack, inspect, and verify incoming materials, tools, and equipment for quality and accuracy.
- Count, weigh, measure, and sort materials to ensure proper storage and availability for plant operations.
- Store and issue materials and tools to plant personnel in accordance with inventory procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, including manual logs and electronic tracking systems.
- Monitor stock levels, investigate discrepancies, and recommend replenishment or stock-out solutions.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve shipment issues, discrepancies, and invoice concerns.
- Perform outbound shipping and material transfers in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Support administrative functions, including work order completion, cost monitoring, scheduling, and reporting.
- Assist in maintaining quality control and quality assurance documentation related to materials management.
- Ensure compliance with all company Safety Rules, environmental regulations, and Good Housekeeping Practices.
- Operate fork truck to unload deliveries and organize within tight confined spaces of the warehouse and power plant.
- Provide training and guidance to other personnel in material handling procedures as required.
- Perform general labor tasks or less-skilled work to support plant operations as needed.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety within the storeroom and other storage areas.

Working Relationships
The Material Handler reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and receives general directions from plant management. The Material Hander also coordinates with all other plant personnel to document inventory, consumable and safety item usage for the facility.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Operation of fork truck within tight confined spaces of the warehouse and power plant.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
