COMPENSATION: Unpaid
START DATE: Immediately upon hire
Position SummaryThe Production Manager at Shall See Theater oversees the technical realization of all productions and programs, ensuring that artistic vision is achieved within budget, schedule, and resource constraints. As a key operational leader, this person participates in the management of production calendars, staffing, budgets, and logistics with show‑specific staff. This person participates in venue selection processes and communicates technical requirements with venues, providing feedback and evaluations to show producers.
In addition to standard production management duties, the Production Manager is also responsible for creating and maintaining production paperwork templates and workflow systems to support efficient and consistent operations as the organization grows.
Key Responsibilities Production Oversight- Manage and track a master production calendar for each artistic season.
- Supervise and guide production managers for each specific project through the production process, abiding Shall See Theater production guidelines.
- Assist the managing director and show producers in the venue searching process, providing technical insights and support.
- Develop and manage production budgets in collaboration with the Managing Director.
- Source and negotiate with vendors for rentals, purchases, and labor needs.
- Design and maintain standardized production templates (e.g., calendars, calls, reports, tech schedules, crew lists).
- Establish organizational best practices for production documentation and filing.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and venue policies.
- Oversee risk assessments and maintain incident documentation.
Fluent in English. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
1-2 years of production management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven theater. Educational experiences also count.
Strong knowledge of production processes, technical theater, budgeting, and scheduling.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Excel, and basic drafting/diagramming tools (e.g., Vectorworks, QLab, Canva).
Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Experience developing templates and infrastructure for repeatable production processes.
Calm under pressure, adaptable, and a collaborative problem solver.
