Title: Material Handler / Expeditor
Pay Rate Range: $19.00 - 21.50/hr
Employment Type: Contract (anticipated 6 months; extension possible)
Schedule: Full-time, 1st Shift (Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
Location: Fairport, NY 14450 (100% Onsite)

Tekberry is seeking a Material Handler / Expeditor to support logistics and production operations for a global manufacturing leader. This role ensures materials are properly staged, tracked, and delivered to support production schedules and maintain accurate inventory across the facility.

You will coordinate closely with planning, warehouse, and manufacturing teams to minimize shortages, maintain production flow, and support operational efficiency in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling & Production Support
  • Pull, stage, and deliver materials to production lines based on work orders and pick lists
  • Replenish Production Supply Areas (PSA) using FIFO practices and bin management
  • Move work-in-progress (WIP) materials between operations
  • Return unused materials to stock with proper documentation
  • Support production teams with material availability and substitutions
Inventory & ERP Transactions
  • Perform material transactions (issues, transfers, returns) within ERP systems (SAP/EWM)
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and labeling
  • Validate bin quantities and resolve discrepancies
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory checks
  • Flag damaged or suspect materials and route to quality review
Expediting & Coordination
  • Track material shortages and escalate risks to production and planning teams
  • Participate in Clear-to-Build reviews to confirm material availability
  • Expedite internal WIP and supplier deliveries
  • Investigate root causes of shortages and staging errors
  • Collaborate with planners, buyers, supervisors, and warehouse personnel
Compliance & Safety
  • Maintain 5S standards and visual controls in material areas
  • Remove scrap and segregate non-conforming materials
  • Operate pallet jacks, carts, and material-moving equipment safely
  • Support documentation and audit requirements
  • Follow all PPE and cleanroom procedures
Must-Have Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2+ years of material handling, inventory, or manufacturing experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
  • U.S. Citizenship required (DOD compliance)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using ERP systems (SAP, S4, or EWM)
  • Manufacturing or regulated production environment experience
  • Inventory control and cycle counting experience
  • Knowledge of FIFO and warehouse bin systems
  • Associate degree in a related field
Work Environment:
  • Cleanroom and manufacturing environments
  • PPE required (safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and protective garments as applicable)
  • Manual material movement using pallet jacks and carts
  • Standing and walking throughout the shift
