Overview

Summary Responsible for all of, but not limited to, the following:
Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, designing and installing electrical equipment. This teammate will assist with process improvements and will provide support for operations. Emphasis for this role will be improving predictive and preventive electrical maintenance, while reducing reactive situations.

Responsibilities
  • Learn operational equipment processes and understand how interlocks work.
  • Perform layout, installation, repair, programming, maintenance and replacement of electrical, PLC components, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and electronic circuits (controls, motors, transformers, switchboards, instruments).
  • Read and understand blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, equipment cut sheets, and follow verbal instructions.
  • Run wire, cable, and conduit; connect power sources; install switch panels, junction boxes, control panels, etc.
  • Repair, maintain and overhaul equipment, control panels, building structures and machinery.
  • Diagnose electrical problems and determine corrective actions (repair, replace, or other appropriate action).
  • Respond to call-outs as needed to keep operational equipment running.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align and modify circuitry, components and equipment; record performance with appropriate instruments.
  • Perform various mechanical tasks as needed.
  • requisition necessary parts and supplies within authority or inform supervisor if items exceed authority.
  • Apply electronic theory, testing procedures and engineering math to design, build or modify equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer operation and program applications; utilize maintenance SAP software as applicable.
  • Attend and complete training (e.g., PLC, VFD operation/set-up, vendor classes).
  • Instruct or assist in training others when required.
  • Assist with special projects and project-related work to achieve location goals.
  • Provide technical assistance for plant problem-solving across quality, production, environmental, maintenance, and change management issues.
  • Analyze equipment failures, investigate problems and offer solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical components and circuits in PLC and VFD controls for crushing, milling, packaging, and material handling equipment, including blowers, fans, air compressors, air dryers, pumps, and rotary airlocks.
  • Read and interpret repair manuals, drawings, procedures, and safety manuals.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving in plant electrical issues and use computer applications effectively.
  • Collaborate to maximize equipment utilization and ensure maintenance supports production capacity and quality.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Maintain strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; willing to work varied hours and shifts; maintain good housekeeping.
  • Comply with company policies and safety guidelines; additional duties may be assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent (education/experience).
  • Apprenticeship or Associate degree preferred.
  • Two-year Electrical Degree and two years of Industrial Electrical Experience, or five years of Industrial Electrical Experience with out degree.
  • Electrical and mechanical experience required.
  • Candidate preferred with prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
Language Skills

Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

Mathematical Skills
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures such as percentages, measurements, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
Reasoning Ability

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Handle problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

Technical Skills

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:

  • Equipment design and capabilities that enable efficient operation.
  • Product layouts and production specifications.
  • Product quality specifications and quality standards.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License or other certification for specific areas or equipment.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Frequent use of hands; occasional sitting. Lift/move up to 50–60 pounds. Vision requirements include near, far, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts; wet/humid conditions; occasional exposure to high places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Noise level typically loud.
