Farm Laborer 1:
Wooster Poultry Unit. Department: FAES | Animal Sciences Wooster Poultry Center.

Location:

Wooster, Ohio. This is a union represented position with the CWA.

Provides general poultry husbandry and poultry research support at the Wooster Poultry Facility. Responsibilities include feeding and watering poultry, adjusting feeder height and flow, sanitizing waterers, handling bedding, transporting feed, carcasses, and manure with proper disposal techniques; weighing, de-beaking, and wing bands poultry; assisting with dust control; pressure washing and disinfecting incubators, hatchers, pens and buildings; removing litter from pens; cleaning cages, dropping pans and floor pans;

isolating poultry from outside flocks; maintaining clean buildings; handling poultry safely and humanely; catching and loading poultry; assisting with artificial insemination of turkeys and chickens; collecting eggs and recording egg production data; recording mortality; reading wing bands; maintaining temperature, humidity and turning records for incubator and hatcher; washing and pedigrees eggs; assisting in the collection and maintenance of poultry data;

assisting in euthanizing poultry according to protocols and processing poultry for sampling; making and recording health observations; assisting in the collection and maintenance of turkey, chicken, and quail data; maintaining Biosafety Level 2 research standards and high biosecurity; operating and maintaining equipment, trucks, tractors, skid loader and facilities; and other duties as assigned. The position may require rotating weekend and holiday work.
