Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: New York

One of our major apparel clients is currently seeking a Sr. Production Manager for their NYC office.

Candidate must have experience with communicating with factories in China. They are looking for someone to start ASAP. Role pays $40-48/hr depending on experience.

The company is a very small U.S.

-based organization currently merging with a very large Chinese company.

The U.S. production function is a one-person department, so the role demands someone who is highly self-directed, decisive, and capable of managing priorities, deadlines, and follow-ups without constant supervision. The individual must be comfortable working independently with factories while partnering closely with Asia-based counterparts in both China and Bangladesh.

  • 8–10+ years of experience in apparel production
  • Experience in a larger organization (to understand scale, volume, and SOPs), combined with experience in a smaller company environment where one effectively operates as a “one-person show”

Required experience includes:

  • Production calendars and full product lifecycle / T&A management – importing (FOB versus LDP and DDP understanding)
  • Strong production and PD follow-up with exceptional tracking skills
  • Highly organized with intermediate Excel proficiency
  • Lab dips, strike-offs and fabric submit tracking and management
  • UPC creation and management
  • Strong costing and margin understanding (will not be costing product as a key function, but needs to understand what to ask for and why, with some analytical ‘push back’ ability
  • Label, carton marking, tickets and hangtag approvals
  • Vendor manual experience (reading, digesting, following customer requirements)
  • Basic shipping documentation knowledge (e.g., reviewing and checking packing lists, quantities, and key information)
  • Ability to create, maintain and follow up on Purchase Orders
  • Technical design knowledge is a strong plus
  • Experience with both wovens and knits preferred
  • Mandarin/Chinese is a plus but not required

Candidate must have a strong sense of urgency, a can-do attitude.

This person should instinctively open packages, immediately identify what’s missing, follow up without delay, and drive results with confidence while escalating issues appropriately.
