About Us Artisan Machining in Ronkonkoma, NY is a Veteran-Owned Small Business providing precision CNC machining for a wide range of industries. We specialize in horizontal milling with full CAD/CAM programming, producing everything from tight-tolerance stainless and aluminum parts to quick-turn prototypes and high-volume production.

Position Overview

We’re hiring an experienced CNC Programmer / Set-Up Machinist for horizontal machining. The ideal candidate can program and set up multiple new parts each week, work independently, and take ownership of quality, productivity, and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program horizontal CNC machines using Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar software
  • Perform full setups: tooling, work offsets, fixtures, and probing
  • Manage multiple setups per week for prototype and short-run production
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and setup documentation
  • Optimize toolpaths, work holding, and cycle times
  • Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues independently
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of CNC programming and setup experience on horizontal machining centers
  • Experience with Haas, Mazak, Doosan, or Kitamura equipment
  • Proficiency in Mastercam, Fusion 360, or comparable CAD/CAM software
  • Strong understanding of G-code, tooling, and fixturing
  • Experience machining aluminum and stainless steels
  • U.S. work authorization required
