About Us Artisan Machining in Ronkonkoma, NY is a Veteran-Owned Small Business providing precision CNC machining for a wide range of industries. We specialize in horizontal milling with full CAD/CAM programming, producing everything from tight-tolerance stainless and aluminum parts to quick-turn prototypes and high-volume production.
Position OverviewWe’re hiring an experienced CNC Programmer / Set-Up Machinist for horizontal machining. The ideal candidate can program and set up multiple new parts each week, work independently, and take ownership of quality, productivity, and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Program horizontal CNC machines using Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar software
- Perform full setups: tooling, work offsets, fixtures, and probing
- Manage multiple setups per week for prototype and short-run production
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and setup documentation
- Optimize toolpaths, work holding, and cycle times
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues independently
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Takes ownership of setups, accuracy, and timelines
- Works independently and solves problems without supervision
- Dependable and detail-oriented
- Communicates clearly and supports a team-based shop environment
- 5+ years of CNC programming and setup experience on horizontal machining centers
- Experience with Haas, Mazak, Doosan, or Kitamura equipment
- Proficiency in Mastercam, Fusion 360, or comparable CAD/CAM software
- Strong understanding of G-code, tooling, and fixturing
- Experience machining aluminum and stainless steels
- U.S. work authorization required
