Job Summary
Allied World is seeking a strong candidate with operational skills and insurance knowledge to join our team supporting North American Production Underwriters. The position requires strong analytical, interpersonal, and people leadership skills with an interest in utilization and introduction of new technology solutions. You will oversee an offshore team that performs New Business submission clearance, renewal management tasks, and Underwriting Prep services.
You will work directly with each team lead to address reported issues and identify or propose process improvements. - Monitor the performance of the New Business Submission Clearance, Renewal Management, and UW Prep teams. Determine root cause of any issues and execute resolution. Common issues are due to user training, process improvements that need to be implemented, new business requirements that require a change to the team’s standard operating procedures, and technical/equipment/network issues.
- Solves for or collaborates with team leads on potential solutions regarding team roadblocks.
- Responsible for significant decisions on the offshore team’s purpose, functions and roles. Manages projects, team workflow and processes to align with the company’s overall vision.
- Foster a positive, collaborative relationship with underwriters and their business leads to ensure New Business Submission, Renewal Management and Underwriting Prep services are on time and quality is as expected. Engages Underwriting Leads and their underwriters to address their issues, or propose process changes that require business buy-in.
- Actively monitors feedback and support e‑mails escalated to team. Is responsible for identifying training items, new requirements or process improvements based on feedback sent to Support inboxes or feedback directly from underwriters.
- Analyzes team metrics for work effectiveness, trends in volume vs. team capacity.
- Creates and updates documentation on Clearance, Renewal Management, and UW Prep processes. Ensure requirement documentation and standard operating procedures are up to date, such as product identification rules, underwriter/AC/branch assignment, declination rules.
- Work collaboratively with Insurance Operations, Legal, CUO and IT to guide team in executing statutory requirements and support change requests to underwriting systems.
- Lead the offshore team as they transition to a new system, Underwriting Workstation. Understand new workflow and requirements in Underwriting Workstation vs. current system. Advocate change management and guide offshore managers, leading to a successful transition.
