The Costing Manager oversees the financial end-to-end process for home textile categories, including bedding, bath, rugs, and kitchen textiles. This role ensures all product costs are precise, competitive, and meet internal margin targets. You will work closely with design, finance, and global suppliers to maintain transparent and efficient costing workflows.
Must have hard goods experience, preferably textiles.
Key Responsibilities Costing & Analysis- Evaluate vendor quotes and negotiate specific cost elements to maximize profitability.
- Conduct deep-dive cost breakdowns to pinpoint savings and primary cost drivers.
- Build and update category-specific costing models (covering materials, labor, and packaging).
- Verify that all pricing aligns with corporate margin goals and retail strategies.
- Coordinate with global suppliers to ensure timely and accurate cost data submissions.
- Benchmark pricing across different regions and vendors to inform sourcing strategies.
- Consult with vendors on price competitiveness to encourage better performance.
- Work with Sourcing and Materials to ensure quotes reflect correct specs and standards.
- Assist Finance and Planning teams with margin forecasting and business reviews.
- Establish standardized costing tools, protocols, and reporting formats.
- Manage a comprehensive costing database for all active programs.
- Prepare financial data for seasonal line reviews and executive presentations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering.
- Experience: 5–7 years in costing or product development, specifically in home textiles/soft goods.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of fabric construction, finishes, and manufacturing.
- Global Sourcing: Proven experience working with overseas vendors (e.g., India, China, Pakistan).
- Skills: Advanced MS Excel skills; familiarity with ERP or PLM software.
- Communication: Ability to distill complex costing data for leadership.
- Financial Acumen: Strong focus on margins and analytical accuracy.
- Negotiation: Expert at managing vendor relationships and driving cost efficiency.
- Agility: Capable of handling high-volume projects within tight deadlines.
- Collaboration: Skillful at aligning goals across different departments.
- Process-Driven: Committed to refining workflows and continuous improvement.
