Managing Director - Reinsurance

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our New York City office.

What The Day Will Look Like

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Reinsurance Solutions business. You will have a direct focus on new broking production—producing new business and assisting in the development of sales and marketing strategy designed to cultivate revenue generation opportunities.

  • Develop comprehensive new business sales and development plans for identified targeted prospects and existing clients.
  • Work closely in collaboration with broking teams across solution lines to focus efforts on the development of new business and building relationships with clients and prospects that align with business targets, with the understanding that volume of prospecting activity is essential.
  • Identify specific client and prospect needs and develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain, at all times, a thorough understanding and knowledge of all available Aon resources and solutions available, and match those to client business requirements.
  • Achieve high client satisfaction by providing exceptional service.
  • Foster and promote a team approach to both internal and external business relationships.
Job Responsibilities
  • As a senior professional, make a significant contribution to the success of the company through financial impact of revenue contribution, strategic growth of a product or enhancement of the company’s professional image and expertise.
  • Use key business parameters to evaluate department efficiency.
  • Serve as a key client manager; receive high client satisfaction results by achieving clients’ reinsurance placement goals.
  • Grow existing accounts and seek new account opportunities.
  • Achieve placement goals at or above set levels and drive the team to do the same.
  • Effectively and independently conduct relevant business discussions at the most senior level (CEO/CFO).
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients and reinsurers.
  • Establish credibility with clients through day-to-day interactions.
  • Demonstrate problem‑solving techniques to best meet the clients’ needs; be recognized as a solution provider for complex client issues.
  • Set realistic expectations and timelines with clients, then produce results.
  • Ensure all placements are thoroughly reviewed and delivered to the client within the acceptable cycle time.
  • Adhere to Aon processes, procedures, and all quality service requirements to deliver exceptional client value.
  • Be recognized as a company leader; commit to continuous improvement and client relationship management.
  • Manage a team of professionals or hold equivalent senior business responsibility.
  • Act as a mentor to broking professionals and develop people to maximum potential.
  • Foster and promote a team approach to both internal and external business relationships.
  • Manage T&E expenses for self and team within corporate guidelines.
  • Commit to pursuing self‑development of knowledge and skills in the evolving world of insurance, reinsurance and analytics.
Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success
  • 12+ years of related experience.
  • Previous formal or informal experience in managing direct reports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the capability to interact with major clients and cultivate and maintain strong relationships at the most senior level.
  • Strong market presence within the broking industry.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbally and in writing—with internal and external clients.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with a high level of accountability for profitability and client satisfaction.
  • Excellent organization and time‑management skills; able to multi‑task and manage projects and direct reports.
