Belong Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ending the loneliness epidemic and building a culture of belonging for people and the planet. We design unique products and programs—including the Belong Center Blueprint Community Training Platform, Belong Circles, and Belong Benches—to empower everyday citizens to connect and combat loneliness and isolation. Features have been highlighted in The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, New York Times Magazine, and on our website and Instagram.
PLEASE NOTE: While there will be cross‑function between this role and the DAYBREAKER team, this position is exclusively a Belong Center role.
AboutThe Role
We’re looking for a seasoned, highly organized, and adaptable professional to collaborate with our existing team and oversee key functions for Belong Center.
Financial Stewardship & Compliance- Oversee daily operations of Belong Center’s annual operating budget, partnering with Finance to ensure transparency and that each project has the resources it needs to thrive.
- Assign clear designated budgets for 2026 to projects such as Belong Benches, Flagship Belong Circles, Belong Center Blueprint, and the Community of Practice.
- Lead the completion of annual nonprofit compliance obligations, including 990 form management, tax filings, audits, and governance reporting.
- Manage organizational insurance coverage and risk mitigation.
- Serve as liaison between the nonprofit and pro‑bono legal partners, sourcing input as the organization grows and securing legal expertise.
- Support Belong Center’s Chairwoman with fundraising, driving the long‑term financial sustainability of the organization.
- Lead key business decisions (e.g., proposed rates for the Community of Practice or driving BC’s Giving Tuesday campaign) that influence growth and sustainability.
- Partner with the Chairwoman and Sponsor ships/Partnerships Lead to identify, cultivate, and secure relationships with high‑net‑worth individuals, family foundations, and sponsors aligned with Belong Center’s mission.
- Partner with Chief of Staff to schedule and organize quarterly Board meetings.
- Lead monthly all‑hands meetings with Belong Center’s Founder.
- Rotate leadership of weekly cross‑functional meetings with the internal team, ensuring strong communication across functions and anchoring a culture of belonging.
- Drive end‑to‑end operational excellence for Belong Center projects, ensuring smooth execution of core initiatives and cross‑team collaboration.
- Provide people leadership and professional development opportunities to strengthen the team’s capacity and individual growth.
- Partner with PR to orchestrate high‑visibility press launches (e.g., Above & Beyond partnership, Belong Study release, Belong Blueprint launch), positioning Belong Center as a leader in the field.
- Minimum 5‑7 years of professional experience in nonprofit management, operations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success overseeing and distributing budgets, financial reporting, compliance, and organizational risk management.
- Experience supporting fundraising efforts, including leading key business decisions and driving campaigns.
- Familiarity with nonprofit compliance requirements (e.g., IRS Form 990, annual audits, governance reporting).
- Proven ability to manage complex, ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with a track record of building efficient systems and processes.
- Skilled communicator capable of engaging diverse stakeholders, from staff to board members to external partners.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, including team management, coaching, and professional development.
- Comfort working in a fast‑paced, highly ambiguous, evolving, and entrepreneurial environment and adapting to evolving organizational needs.
- High proficiency with productivity and project‑management tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Quick Books or similar).
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills for leading all‑hands meetings and representing Belong Center publicly.
- Deep commitment to and joy for Belong Center’s mission of ending loneliness and building a culture of belonging.
- Based in New York City and able to work from Daybreaker HQ at least once per week to collaborate with the Founder and stay on track with Belong Center goals.
