Overview

A fast-growing distribution organization is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Warehouse & Inventory Manager to lead its warehouse and transportation functions. This role is ideal for an operational leader who thrives on bringing structure, implementing systems, and driving measurable improvements across people, processes, and performance. The focus is on modernizing workflows, improving accuracy, elevating accountability, and creating a smooth, reliable operation from receiving through final delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily flow of warehouse operations, ensuring work is carried out safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Organize staffing for warehouse team members and drivers to align with workload demands.
  • Maintain strong inventory accuracy through disciplined controls, frequent cycle counts, and reliable system reconciliation.
  • Manage transportation activity, including route planning, coordination with outside carriers, and monitoring freight expenses.
  • Establish clear performance expectations supported by measurable KPIs that track speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
  • Create and update internal reporting tools that surface trends, gaps, and areas needing improvement.
  • Develop and maintain documented procedures that guide each stage of warehouse activity—from receiving and storage through picking, packing, shipping, and dispatching.
  • Ensure the full team follows defined processes and continuously looks for ways to improve how work gets done.
  • Lead, support, and mentor warehouse staff and drivers, encouraging professionalism, initiative, and strong work habits.
  • Promote safe practices, organizational discipline, and a clean, orderly work environment.
  • Manage budgets covering labor, equipment, and transportation, ensuring resources are used responsibly.
  • Review cost patterns to uncover opportunities to lower freight spend, optimize labor allocation, and reduce operational waste.
  • Plan and organize space, equipment usage, and staffing levels to maximize productivity and support smooth workflow execution.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in warehouse and transportation leadership roles (distribution, logistics, or military experience advantageous).
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to set expectations and drive accountability respectfully and effectively.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging ERP or WMS systems to manage operations and improve accuracy.
  • Proven track record designing and managing KPIs that deliver measurable operational gains.
  • Working knowledge of transportation routing, compliance, and carrier coordination.
  • Thrives in environments that require building structure, solving problems, and improving systems.
  • Willing to lead from the front while upholding high professional and operational standards.
  • Ability to view end-to-end workflows and optimize them holistically.
