Job Summary

This Regional Property Manager oversees property management, regulatory compliance, and facilities operations for Shake Shack’s East Coast portfolio, including the NYC Support Center and Innovation Kitchen. The position ensures restaurants and corporate facilities operate in full compliance with local and state regulations, partners with landlords and vendors, and supports new store openings.

Job Responsibilities
  • Full Regulatory Compliance — Ensure all East Coast restaurants operate in full compliance with local, county, and state authorities:
    Department of Health & Food Permits;
    Fire Alarm, Public Assembly, and Grease Trap Permits;
    Business Licenses, Encroachment Permits, and Sidewalk Café/Outdoor Seating Permits;
    Certificates of Inspection and necessary local approvals.
  • Landlord & Asset Management — Serve as the primary liaison for landlord issue resolution; support lease administration and collaborate with Legal to ensure lease obligations are upheld.
  • Violation Mitigation — Lead the strategy for addressing notices and violations promptly and proactively. Develop and implement process controls to reduce recurrence and minimize financial impact.
  • License Lifecycle & Data — Manage the renewal program for all operational licenses/permits. Maintain a digital database and coordinate with 3rd-party vendors to ensure zero expiration lapses.
  • Vendor & Contract Management — Oversee regional vendors, managing maintenance contracts, proposals, and RFPs as they pertain to the support centers.
Support Center Maintenance Oversight (NYC)
  • NYC Facilities Leadership:
    Manage daily facility operations, maintenance, and administrative compliance for the NYC Support Center, Innovation Kitchen, and Leadership Center.
  • Contract Administration:
    Manage maintenance contracts, service proposals, and RFPs specifically for NYC-based corporate facilities to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
Cross-Functional Support
  • New Store Openings:
    Partner with Property Development to conduct research on permits and licensing for new East Coast sites.
  • Legal & Licensing

    Collaboration:

    Work with Legal/Compliance for visibility into beer/wine renewal timelines and special event permits.
  • Facilities Systems Support:
    Provide coverage and administrative support within Service Channel and other facility management platforms.
  • Field Support:
    Provide guidance and support to the operations team with tools and resources to better manage regulatory compliance with licensing, permits, and violations.
Related Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Facilities Management, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 4-6 years of experience in property management, facilities management, real estate paralegal, or multi-site operations, preferably supporting retail, restaurant, or hospitality portfolios
  • Proven experience managing landlord relationships, service vendors, and maintenance contracts
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems, facilities operations, and property maintenance
  • Experience supporting regulatory requirements, inspections, and permits at the local or regional level
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Legal, Construction, Operations, and Development teams
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills
  • Comfortable using facilities management systems (e.g., Service Channel or similar platforms)
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally as needed
  • Excellent organization & communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
