Position

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager – Building Services. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for overseeing the cleaning operations in assigned areas throughout the Perlmutter Cancer Center. They ensure a clean and sanitary environment, ensuring all department employees understand and use cleaning equipment and supplies and perform their duties satisfactorily.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintains safety and sanitary standards in areas of responsibility. Tours each area, covering each assigned area to observe all service line functions with the Building Services Department (escort, linen, and cleaning) and to determine compliance with instructions and quality of work. Inspects each area to ensure that all safety, health, and sanitation regulations are met in accordance with Federal, City, and State regulations.

    Ensures that cleaning staff follows proper policies and protocol as written in departmental policies and procedures manual.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
  • Establishes daily assignment schedules for all employees under supervision and monitors their work. Defines the expected outcome and time of completion of daily duties. Clearly communicates the objectives, follows up to ensure desired outcomes, assigns work to accomplish goals in a timely fashion, solicits feedback, allocates resources appropriately, and distributes assignments equitably.
  • Evaluates and documents staff performance, records, and reports personnel absences, and performs personnel counseling. Recognizes the need to counsel subordinates and performs counseling in a timely fashion. Explains clearly responsibilities and performance standards, offers guidance for improvement, disciplines when necessary, and conducts performance reviews constructively in accordance with personnel and departmental guidelines.
  • Develops and encourages a program of staff development. Plans training and development in advance of implementation. Trains staff effectively and maintains detailed records of performance and training status.
  • Participates in developing, planning and implementing new programs, including the development of related procedures/processes. Communicates the need for new policies and procedures to superiors, submits reports/plans on time, develops short‑ and long‑range plans for accomplishment of goals, addresses contingencies, and communicates delays to supervisors. Utilizes audit results, quality assurance reports and accident reports to improve quality of service.
  • Participates in cost control activities by seeking the most effective methods, maintaining awareness of cost impact, evaluating practices to identify excessive supply usage or equipment abuse, arranging work to reduce overtime, using supplies efficiently, and ensuring equipment is clean, stored securely, and in good working condition.
  • Prepares daily reports and informs supervisor of incidents that may or may not be job related. Reports daily the activities of all employees under supervision and any incidents that have occurred.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree in a related field. Minimum four years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in management or a related field. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary Range: $64,350.00 – $96,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses or other compensation.
