Location: New York
Title: VP / Senior Credit Manager, Commercial Banking
Office Status: Onsite – New York, NY
Base Salary: $160,000 – $200,000 base + bonus
OverviewOur client is a well-established international commercial bank with a longstanding U.S. presence and a relationship-driven lending platform. This senior-level role leads the regional credit function, overseeing credit approvals, portfolio oversight, regulatory interaction, and team management. The position offers meaningful approval authority, direct exposure to executive leadership and head office, and ownership of credit quality across a diverse commercial loan book.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the regional credit department, setting priorities, managing workflow, and ensuring timely turnaround of credit decisions
- Review and approve complex commercial credit proposals, ensuring compliance with internal policies, underwriting standards, and delegated authority
- Exercise joint approval authority for new loan originations and annual reviews in accordance with credit governance guidelines
- Evaluate third-party reports, including real estate appraisals and environmental assessments, as part of the credit approval process
- Provide oversight of credit risk ratings, collateral structures, limits, and loan terms within internal credit systems
- Ensure loan documentation accuracy and policy compliance prior to execution and closing through delegation and staff oversight
- Act as a key point of contact for auditors, regulators, and head office on all credit-related matters
- Oversee classified assets, problem loan remediation, and recovery strategies in coordination with internal and external counsel
- Manage and report on OREO assets and special asset portfolios within the region
- Develop, mentor, and manage credit staff, including performance oversight and professional development initiatives
