The RoleUnder general direction of the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will provide administrative and clinical supervision as needed, support multidisciplinary staff assigned to case management, housing, and/or community benefits teams, and manage day‑to‑day operations, clinical service delivery, and quality monitoring. The Assistant Director will also coordinate appropriate service coverage, provide on‑call administration, and manage facility or clinical emergencies.
Responsibilities- Supervise and monitor the shelter environment, ensuring behavioral guidelines are followed and a therapeutic milieu is maintained.
- Coordinate and implement clinical services for the multidisciplinary case management team.
- Help implement and monitor policies, procedures, and systems necessary for effective and efficient delivery of program services.
- Provide scheduled clinical and administrative supervision to assigned staff.
- Document supervisory sessions, complete appraisals, and administer discipline as required.
- Make recommendations on hiring and termination of staff.
- Identify staff training needs and develop or conduct training to maintain and improve clinical competency and compliance with agency policy.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and timely client treatment records by staff, in compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policy.
- Associate’s Degree with 15+ years of progressive experience working with homeless populations, 10+ years of supervisory experience in shelter/transitional or permanent supportive housing, and experience with the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) or a similar city‑operated organization.
- Strong leadership and effective management skills.
- Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations governing substance abuse treatment programs.
- Good analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
