Overview

Job Description A large dairy operation located in New York is searching for a hands-on Herd Manager. This position will oversee the dry and fresh cow herd. This includes working with other managers to accomplish scheduling, training, parlor performance, fresh cow care, maternity care, herd health, milk quality and ordering/supply inventory. This description covers supervision, coordination, and training of employees, and involvement with all aspects of the dairy herd, facilities, and herd employees.

• Supervise, coordinate, and train employees across the dairy herd, facilities, and herd staff.
• Oversee the dry and fresh cow herds.
• Work with other managers to manage scheduling, training, parlor performance, fresh cow care, maternity care, herd health, milk quality, and ordering/supply inventory.

• Leadership / Motivational skills
• Dry / Fresh cow experience
• Herd health skills
• Feed and nutrition experience
• Computer experience
• Ability to train employees
• Must be able to speak Dairy Spanish at a minimum. The ability to speak conversational or fluent Spanish is preferred.
