Healthcare Principal – Market Leadership Role (NY Tri-State / Northeast)

A global, employee-owned engineering and consulting organisation is seeking a Healthcare Principal to lead the growth of its healthcare practice across the New York Tri-State and broader Northeast markets.

This is a senior seller–doer and market leadership role, focused on business development, client relationship management, and work-winning, alongside strategic oversight of complex healthcare project delivery. The successful individual will play a pivotal role in shaping long-term regional growth and positioning the firm to win large, multidisciplinary healthcare programmes.

Based in the NY Tri-State area, this position is central to an ambitious regional growth strategy and will involve close collaboration with healthcare leadership across the US to build a strong opportunity pipeline, expand key client relationships, and secure major healthcare projects with fees in excess of $10M.

The role sits within an established, highly regarded healthcare engineering team spanning mechanical, electrical, and multidisciplinary services and offers a genuine opportunity to influence strategy, market positioning, and long-term legacy.

• Lead healthcare business development efforts across the NY Tri-State, Northeast, and wider East Coast markets
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with healthcare systems, owners, and strategic partners
• Develop and execute regional healthcare market strategies aligned with national priorities
• Provide leadership on major pursuits, including proposals, interviews, and pursuit strategy
• Act as Project Director or Executive Sponsor on key healthcare programmes, providing commercial oversight and governance
• Drive strong financial and commercial performance through effective risk and contract management
• Collaborate with regional and national leaders to support cross-selling and large, integrated pursuits
• Mentor and develop senior engineering and project leadership talent, particularly around client engagement and work winning
• Champion sustainable, evidence-based healthcare design that delivers long-term value and improved outcomes

• 20+ years’ professional experience with a strong focus on healthcare projects in the NY Tri-State or Northeast
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Proven track record of winning work and growing healthcare business portfolios
• Experience leading medium to large-scale healthcare projects as Project Director or similar
• Prior Engineer of Record experience on complex healthcare facilities
• Strong commercial acumen, including contracts, financial oversight, and risk management
• Professional Engineer (PE) licence required (multi-state licensure advantageous)
• Highly credible communicator, comfortable engaging senior clients and non-technical stakeholders
