The

Opportunity

Greenwich House is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Center Director to manage one of the Older Adult Centers within the OAN network. The Director will be responsible for the daily operations of the center, ensuring a welcoming and engaging environment for all members. The Director oversees the daily meal service, develops and implements educational, cultural, and recreational programs, and works closely with social work staff to coordinate client referrals and support services.

The role also includes ensuring proper maintenance and upkeep of the center. In addition, the Director builds strong relationships with center members and community partners and serves as the agency’s liaison to the Center’s Advisory Board.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of daily center operations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of monthly reports to NYC Aging, including data on meals, class attendance, and services.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with NYC Aging regulatory standards and NYC Department of Health regulations related to food service and facility maintenance.
  • Maintain and manage a pre-allotted annual budget to ensure responsible use of program funds.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director to recruit volunteers and consultants to teach classes that reflect the interests and needs of center members.
  • Ensure consultant certifications and compliance with teaching contracts.
  • Oversee class evaluation processes and work with the Assistant Director to develop new programs based on member feedback and interests.
  • Engage and support the Center Member Advisory Council.
  • Utilize Canva to develop flyers, class programs, and menus.
  • Work with staff to maintain monthly supply orders.
  • Perform other duties and services as assigned.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily lunch service and coordinate aides and volunteers involved in meal service.
  • Monitor the daily schedule of programs and services.
  • Ensure building security at closing time.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards as required by NYC Aging and DOH regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Communications teams on relevant initiatives.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly supervision and support to staff.
  • Participate in regular supervision with your direct supervisor.
  • Attend and contribute to staff and program director meetings.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for staff.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s degree preferred in recreation, geriatrics, social work, or a related field — or at least four years of experience in social services, senior services, or a closely related area.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and organize comprehensive programming for older adults, including recreational and educational offerings, while engaging staff, members, and stakeholders in the process.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and direct a variety of center activities, including trips and special events.
  • Proficient in using and training staff on new administrative systems, software, and digital platforms.
