About Rise

Rise is a program that supports promising young people and provides them with opportunities that allow them to work together to serve others over their lifetimes. The program starts at ages 15–17 and offers benefits including secondary education opportunities, a technology package, a Rise Residential Summit, college advising, higher education scholarships, additional convenings, funding, and more.

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Rise, the Manager, Learning & Impact will serve as the lead for developing and delivering online and in person learning experiences designed to: leverage expertise from the Schmidt entities and the Rhodes Trust Partnership Programmes network; build communities of practice and foster cross-collaboration; and maximize the impact of nearly 400 Rise Global Fellows as they work together to solve humanity’s most pressing problems.

In this role, the Manager will work closely with the Director, Support Services and the Manager, Community Events, as well as consultants, contractors, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a year-round calendar of learning experiences for the Rise Fellows, including programming from Support Services
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, Rise and Rise Global Fellows, develop and deliver interactive online and in-person, experiential learning experiences, leveraging experts from the Schmidt entities and the Rhodes Trust Partnership Programmes network
  • Source and mentor Rise Global Fellows with relevant expertise to attend online and in person events from the Schmidt entities and the Rhodes Trust Partnership Programmes networks as participants and/or speakers
  • Design, support, and evaluate communities of practice among Rise Global Fellows to increase impact
  • Lead the development of a strategy and a toolkit to support Rise Global Fellows in planning, promoting, and hosting regional meetups to foster learning, collaboration, and networking
  • Identify, launch, leverage, and monitor a suite of online tools and resources intended to connect Rise Global Fellows to themselves and others in the extended network and to stimulate new collaborations
  • Design systems for capturing evidence of impact stories and partner with the Schmidt and Rhodes Trust Communications teams to determine how best to share results both internally and externally
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience working with learners ages 16-25 and knowledge of safeguarding essentials
  • Drive to work in high-impact philanthropic ventures
  • Commitment to building robust relationships to further programmatic goals
  • Experience using platforms and/or project management software to plan events
  • Proficiency in moderating and scaling online communities and platforms
  • Experience building relationships across global cultures
  • Demonstrated teamwork ability and a record of impact in high-intensity, team-based environments
  • Values-based, collaborative working style with a demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional operational and program management skills
Suggested Background
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Have experience overseeing in-person or online community and/or events management
  • Have experience managing teams and managing programs
  • Must be able to work extended hours or work weeks in support of the Rise Residential Summit and additional convenings
  • Must be able to travel within the U.S. and internationally as needed, following company policy and permitting circumstances
  • Position is based in the Schmidt New York office at least three days a week, and as needed for meetings

$155,000 – $170,000 a year
