This role presents a significant opportunity for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to serve as a strategic leader within a mission-driven human services organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. - Provide strategic financial leadership and serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team.
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and programmatic needs.
- Lead financial planning, analysis, and modeling to support decision‑making, growth initiatives, and long‑term sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including nonprofit accounting standards and funding requirements.
- Oversee audits, tax filings, and financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.
- Identify and manage financial risk, implementing internal controls and policies that promote fiscal accountability and transparency.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance, productivity, and resource utilization across programs.
- Supervise and develop finance and accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 10–15 years of progressive financial and management experience, with significant experience in a nonprofit environment.
- Prior senior leadership experience within a nonprofit organization, preferably in human services or disability support.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and develop practical, effective solutions.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems, financial databases, and reporting tools used to support accurate and timely decision‑making.
- Experience working with executive leadership teams and governing boards.
- CPA or other relevant professional certification preferred but not required.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance mission, compliance, and financial sustainability.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and accountability.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Clear and effective communicator, capable of translating financial information for non‑financial audiences.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong cross‑functional partnerships.
