Aboutthe Team
The VP will directly supervise the Philanthropy Project Director, GARE Membership Director, and GARE Director, who supervises GARE’s Regional Managers. The VP will also work with VPs from the other units of the organization to build a collaborative, effective organizational culture that leverages the potential of each team for maximum impact.
Position SummaryThe Vice President of Institutional and Sectoral Change is a key senior level manager who works directly with the President and Senior Vice President of Programs, providing strategic leadership in the arena of planning and executing the work of GARE and Race Forward. The position plays a significant role in strategy development, organizational networking, alliance building, and relationship management with a specific goal of increasing the capacity of the organization and its allies to achieve their respective missions.
The position will possess a strong and proven management background in the racial justice field, including development and building organizational culture change to improve practice, deployment of policy reform advocacy strategies, partnership cultivation, and delivery of technical assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements policy objectives, strategies, and operating plans that align institutional and sectoral transformation strategies with organizational priorities;
- Responsible for delivery, management, and direction of activities of the organization, in collaboration with other Vice-Presidents and the Executive Team;
- Leads vision and strategy development to catalyze institutional transformation in the public, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors. Lead the exploration of other sectors, such as the private sector or education;
- Manage a 12-person staff team focused on capacity building and sector change in philanthropy, government, and the nonprofit sector, with direct supervision of three team members;
- Leads engagements with nonprofit institutions working to transform their organizational practice to advance racial equity;
- Reinforces the work of the GARE Director and project team to solidify the organization’s signature effort on building movement in the public sector to advance racial equity;
- Participates in internal organizational activities that enhance Race Forward’s effectiveness at advancing racial equity;
- Develops and oversees implementation of the ISC workplan;
- Support relationships with partners and organizational visibility through speaking engagements and media presence;
- Leads ISC budget development and fundraising, in collaboration with the ISC Teamand senior leadership, through the preparation of responses to Requests for Proposals, preparation of grant proposals and reports, and delivery of high-quality programs to partners and clients;
