Accountable Manager – NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP)
Job OverviewAssociate Project Manager 2 (Accountable Manager) for the Water System Capital Program (WSCP). Responsible for overseeing design and construction of WSCP projects including dams, bridges, and in‑house construction projects such as the Baptist Church Road Bridge and Croton Falls Dam. Works under general supervision and ensures project goals, milestones, schedules, and cost controls.
Responsibilities- Oversee construction activities and support design contracts to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
- Prepare, negotiate, and process modifications to consultant and construction contract scope, cost, and schedule.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and oversight of subordinates, including time and leave approvals and staffing decisions.
- Ensure environmental health & safety policies are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate and coordinate with agency bureaus, city agencies, and key stakeholders to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
- Monitor key performance indicators for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- One year of full‑time satisfactory supervisory experience in project management on engineering, architectural, or construction projects, or supervision of a construction project valued at $1,000,000 or more.
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field; or high‑school diploma with five years of equivalent experience.
- At least one additional year of supervisory capacity or two additional years for higher assignment levels.
- Valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Registered Landscape Architect (preferred).
- Experience in project management of large capital contracts is required; design‑heavy experience does not count toward the qualification.

- Valid NYS driver’s license (may be required for site visits and meetings)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Microsoft Project
