Overview
Energy Efficiency Program Manager | Sustainability & Resource Optimization
Location:
New York City based with travel to client sites
Our client is a trusted leader in energy efficiency and sustainability solutions, helping organizations reduce energy consumption, optimize resources, and implement innovative programs that drive measurable environmental and financial impact.
Responsibilities- Program Management – Lead the planning, development, and execution of energy efficiency programs across multiple sectors (buildings, industrial, appliances, transportation).
- Establish program goals, budgets, and timelines in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement streamlined solutions.
- Monitor emerging technologies, policies, and industry best practices to inform program growth strategies.
- Data Analysis & Reporting – Collect, analyze, and interpret program performance and energy savings data.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate outcomes to leadership, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Leverage insights to recommend improvements and optimize ongoing initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Build and sustain relationships with state agencies, utilities, contractors, community organizations, and industry partners.
- Represent our client at conferences, meetings, and industry events.
- Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, funding, and resource sharing.
- Program Evaluation & Quality Assurance – Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track program impact.
- Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Maintain high-quality reporting and data integrity across all program activities.
- Recommend improvements to strengthen efficiency, outcomes, and compliance.
- Leadership & Team Development – Provide guidance and mentorship to program staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that encourages innovation and professional growth.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training program staff.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance team capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in energy efficiency, sustainability, or related fields.
- Technical expertise with retrofit installations and energy savings calculations.
- Proven track record in program management and multi-project oversight.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience engaging stakeholders and managing cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and data analysis software.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency regulations, policies, and standards at federal, state, and local levels.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar credential is a plus.
- Must pass background checks and pre-employment screening.
- Hybrid/office-based with periodic travel to client sites and industry events.
