Vice President for Administration and Finance

Lehman College is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) located in the Bronx. A federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution, Lehman serves a diverse population of more than 14,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The College invites applications for the position of Vice President for Administration and Finance.

Position Details

The Vice President for Administration and Finance provides the vision and leadership to manage the College's operating and capital budgets; pursues innovative business solutions to enhance the overall effectiveness of the College's financial and administrative operations; works collaboratively with senior staff, faculty, administrators, and external constituents to achieve sustainable plans that maximize institutional goals; and is an advocate for funding for Lehman College.

Reporting to the President of the College, the Vice President is a member of the President's Cabinet and the chief advisor to the President and executive staff on fiscal affairs, administrative, and facilities operations. She/he is the principal liaison to The City University's system administration, government agencies, and other entities regarding fiscal, administrative, and operational matters.

The Vice President oversees six major units:

  • Budget and Planning – Responsible for financial planning and budgeting, developing models and forecasting long‑term financial projections, and ensuring compliance with college, university, and state regulations.
  • Campus Planning and Facilities – Works with the University and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) in matters related to the planning, programming, design, document production, cost estimation, bidding, construction, and observation of capital projects and maintenance, alteration, and repair projects.
  • Environmental Health and Safety – Provides oversight, training, and other services to reduce workplace accidents and injuries, and ensures compliance with environmental and governmental regulations.
  • Financial Operations – Enhances the college's financial strength through fiscal analysis, monitoring, planning, and reporting, and provides business and financial services to the campus community through offices such as General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Auxiliary Services, Bursar, Central Receiving, Mail Services, Purchasing, Print Shop, and Student Financial Services.
  • Human Resources – Partners with academic and administrative departments to recruit and retain a talented and diverse workforce and manages benefits administration, organizational and professional development, payroll administration, and employee recognition programs.
  • Public Safety – Maintains a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and directs emergency response and management on campus.
Responsibilities

Charged with strengthening the College's ability to generate, effectively allocate, and manage resources in support of institutional goals and objectives, the responsibilities are within three major areas:

  • Fiscal Management and Resource Development – Serves as the College's Chief Financial Officer. Plans, directs and coordinates fiscal affairs at the College, including development of a financial strategy; development and control of the operating and capital budgets, financial forecasts and funding models; evaluates the financial impact of policy options and key performance metrics; identifies and recommends opportunities to help the College maintain and improve its funding levels;

    provides expert advice and recommendations to the President and college leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation – Demonstrates a continuous, proactive, and creative improvement of operations through re‑engineering work processes, new technology solutions, best practices, and feedback from internal users and external customers. Ensures that strategic objectives are supported by the budget, that administrative processes are grounded in best practices, and that services are delivered efficiently with a strong customer‑service focus.
