Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technical Supervisor (83742)

Upstate Medical University is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technical Supervisor to lead our Molecular oncology / Molecular genetic laboratory. The supervisor will oversee day‑to‑day technical operations to ensure accurate and timely test results for our patients. This position requires a strong leader who can manage a team, maintain stringent quality control, and ensure continuous compliance with all regulatory standards (CLIA, NYS Department of Health and DNV).

• Supervise daily technical molecular lab operations, including PCR and NGS testing.
• Maintain inspection readiness through QA/QC program oversight.
• Train, schedule, and assess technical lab staff to ensure competency and growth.
• Lead validation and implementation of new assays and instruments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical and operational issues.
• Manage inventory, reagents, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with the Medical Director to uphold patient care standards.

• Minimum 4 years of relevant molecular laboratory experience post‑NYS licensure, with at least 1‑2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience with NYS Lab‑Developed Test submissions and molecular validations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of molecular diagnostics principles and methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with EPIC/Beaker.
