Job Summary

The Property Manager ensures all camp facilities are clean, sanitary, and fully functional to provide a safe, healthy environment for campers and staff. This role is responsible for the daily cleaning routines, managing waste disposal, restocking supplies, and tackling all identified repairs and maintenance duties.

This is a hands‑on role so on any given day the Property Manager might be moping, mowing, painting, repairing a vehicle, handling a water or sewage issue, removing trash or blowing leaves and using such equipment as pickaxe, chain saw, string trimmer, ride‑on mower or a generator.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a camp setting.

Responsibilities

Facility & Staff Management

  • Responsible for the overall maintenance, and repair of all buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of fields, walkways, recreation and gathering areas.
  • Supervise the facility team of a technician and a custodian. Create schedules and workplans.
  • Training and evaluating staff and working hands on side‑by‑side with the team.

General Cleaning

  • Responsible for the cleanliness of camp facilities, including cabins, restrooms, dining areas, and common spaces.
  • Restroom Sanitation:
    Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, and replenish soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
  • Trash Removal:
    Empty trash cans throughout the camp and properly dispose of waste.
  • Floor Care:
    Sweep, mop, vacuum, and occasionally wax floors in indoor spaces.
  • Laundry & Linens:
    Wash, dry, and fold camp linens.

Opening and Closing Duties

  • Follow routine check list to open and close camp.
  • Supervise vendors and contractors in annual certifications and protocols: fire alarm, fire suppression, fire extinguishers, propane pilots, pest control, etc.

Administrative

  • Restocking Supplies:
    Ensure cleaning supplies and toiletries are stocked and notify vendors when inventory is low.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a sanitary environment for campers and staff.
  • Mentorship:
    Support Cabin Counselors to execute all above duties with their campers.
  • Collaboration:

    Work with other camp staff to support cleaning schedules and respond to special cleaning requests.
Qualifications
  • Prior managerial experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or maintenance environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance, landscaping and janitorial services as well as painting, carpentry, electrical wiring and controls, plumbing, vehicle and water and sewage treatment.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, maintenance and cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
Requirements
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work a demanding schedule.
  • Must be able to live on camp property from April to October.
  • Ability to pass a background check, and meet all required immunizations (MMR and Polio required).
  • Ability to drive, possession of a valid driver license and clean DMV record.
  • Must be able to work in an outside environment, where you have the ability to walk/hike daily, at various grades, elevations, and on uneven terrain regardless of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds, and carry and load luggage, tables, chairs, and other program equipment.
